After a brief discussion, we decided to abandon one shoe, and to focus solely on one, no pun intended, so that the one shoe can be completed to at least 80%(The requirement of Semi-Finals). After lunch, we continued with the project. Alphonsus and Wen Han were always at each others' throats for no particular reason, or for reasons that mine and Jing Hong's minds were too mature to comprehend fully. Hence, the process of completing the project was slow. We met on Youth Day. We decided to scrap the original design as it would be too uncomfortable to wear. hence we decided to remake the shoes with ice-cream sticks and pieces of fabric from our old clothing. it turned out to be very difficult to insert the ice-cream sticks into the sole of the shoe, as the sole was very tough, and thus was very difficult to create a hole in the sole of the shoe. Yuan Hao, Jing Hong and Wen Han worked together to build two different prototypes, one of them with the opening mechanism, the other with the main design and the hand made hinge. We tried to make the mechanism operate smoothly, and we could operate it to some extent, but now everyone is in not much of a mood to carry on... Today, we met at Jing Hong's house to start to build the shoe. We found it extremely difficult to cut the sole of the shoe, since part of it is made up of tough plastic. Today, Yuan Hao, Jing Hong, Wen Han and Alphonsus met up at Yuan Hao's house for a meeting. We created the timeline (see previous post), and decided the time and location of the next meeting. The first 2 pictures are the front view of the shoe. the 3rd and 4th are the top and side view respectively. |
